Am I a Candidate for Veneers?

If smile flaws prevent you from flashing you’re pearly whites, dental veneers could be the answer you’ve been looking for. Veneers are thin shells made of porcelain or resin composite that are permanently affixed to the front of teeth.

At Silver Lake Dentistry in Raymore, Missouri, Dr. Joshua Whitford and Dr. Jessica Whitford love how this minimally invasive technique can address a wide range of dental issues and even strengthen weakened or damaged teeth.

Here are some of the most common problems they fix with veneers:

Every veneer is custom fabricated to match the patient’s individual needs. Veneers are also o shaped and tinted to match the rest of your teeth. Veneers can be applied to a single or multiple teeth.

Among the benefits of veneers:

Quick results

Veneers offer quick results. Typically, your new smile requires no more than two office visits.

At the first appointment, your dentist evaluates your teeth and discusses your overall goals. Next, they prepare your tooth for the veneer. This entails removing a small amount of enamel from its surface — about the thickness of a contact lens. This step ensures the veneer lays flush with your other teeth. Next, your dentist makes a mold of the area to fabricate your custom-made veneer.

Once your veneer arrives from the dental lab, you return to Silver Lake Dental to have your new veneer affixed to your teeth. Your tooth or teeth are cleaned, then the veneer is bonded in place with special dental cement, hardened into place with ultraviolet light.

Then you’re ready for your close-up!

No extra care

Veneers are low maintenance. Not only do they require no additional care than the rest of your teeth, but veneers are also stain-resistant.

Long-lasting benefits

Veneers to last up to 15 years as long. A bonus: Veneers add a layer of protection stronger than your existing enamel.
